FAQ
How is the tip worked out?
The tip is the bill multiplied by the tip percent, so a 15% tip on a 50 bill is 7.50, making the total 57.50. If you split between several people, the total and the tip are simply divided by that number so everyone pays an equal share.
Should I tip on the pre-tax or post-tax amount?
Either is common — many people tip on the pre-tax bill, while others tip on the total including tax. This calculator tips on whatever bill figure you enter, so just type the amount you want to base the tip on.
