FAQ

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The colours are inverted on an HTML canvas right in your browser, so your images never leave your device. It works offline and stays private.

What does inverting colours actually do?

Each pixel’s red, green and blue values are replaced with their opposite (255 minus the value), so black becomes white, white becomes black, and every colour turns into its complement. It’s the same effect as a photographic negative.

Is transparency kept?

Yes for formats that support it — PNG and WebP keep their transparent areas, and only the colours are inverted. JPG has no transparency, so any see-through areas are placed on white first and then inverted.
