FAQ

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Your photos are read and cleaned entirely inside your browser. They’re never uploaded, which matters most here — the whole point is to protect the private data hidden in your images.

What gets removed?

For JPEGs: EXIF (camera, date, and GPS location), plus XMP and IPTC blocks. For PNGs: text and timestamp chunks. The colour profile is kept so your image still looks right.

Does removing metadata reduce image quality?

No. For JPEG and PNG the metadata sections are dropped without touching the picture data, so quality is identical. Other formats are re-saved via canvas, which may re-compress them slightly.
