Letter grades use the common US scale: A 90+, B 80–89, C 70–79, D 60–69, F below 60. Your school may use different cut-offs, so check its grading policy.

How to use

  1. Type how many points you earned on the test or assignment.
  2. Type how many points were possible (the total it was out of).
  3. Read your score: the big number is your percentage and the letter grade appears just below — both update live as you type.

FAQ

How is the percentage and letter grade worked out?

Your percentage is points earned divided by points possible, times 100. For example, 85 out of 100 is 85%. The letter grade then comes from the common US scale: 90% and up is an A, 80–89% is a B, 70–79% is a C, 60–69% is a D, and below 60% is an F. If your school uses plus and minus grades or different cut-offs, treat the letter here as the standard guide and check your own grading policy.

Is anything I type uploaded?

No — it runs in your browser. Your points are used for plain arithmetic on your device, nothing is sent to a server or stored, and the calculator works offline so your scores stay private.

Can the score go above 100%?

Yes. If you earned extra-credit points, the points earned can be larger than the points possible, which gives a percentage over 100%. The tool still shows the higher number and an A, since anything 90% or above is an A.
