FAQ

How is the score worked out?

The score is the number of correct answers divided by the total number of questions, turned into a percentage. So if a test has 20 questions and 3 are wrong, that is 17 correct out of 20, which is 85%. The letter grade then comes from that percent on the standard scale: 90% and up is an A, 80–89% is a B, 70–79% is a C, 60–69% is a D, and anything below 60% is an F. The chart shows the score and letter for every possible number of wrong answers, so you can grade a whole stack quickly.

Is anything I type sent to a server?

No — it runs in your browser. The numbers you enter are used for plain arithmetic right on your device; nothing is uploaded or stored. The calculator works offline and keeps your grading private.

Can I change the grading scale?

This tool uses the common A–F scale (90/80/70/60). If your school rounds differently or uses plus and minus grades, treat the letter here as a quick guide and apply your own cut-offs to the percent score, which is always exact.
