Redact PDF

Black out private parts of a PDF for good — the hidden text can’t be recovered, all in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Drop a PDF to redact

.pdf files · the first run loads the PDF viewer once

How to use

  1. Drop a PDF in, or tap the box to choose one.
  2. Drag a black box over anything you want hidden. Use Prev and Next to mark more pages — every box is remembered per page.
  3. Press Redact & download. Each page is flattened to an image, so the text under the boxes is permanently gone.

FAQ

Is the hidden text really gone, or just covered up?

Really gone. Many “redaction” tools only draw a black box on top, leaving the original text selectable underneath. This tool flattens every page to a fresh image with the black boxes baked in, then rebuilds the PDF from those images — so there is no text or object left under the marks to recover.

Why is the downloaded PDF no longer selectable text?

That is the trade-off for safe redaction. Because each page becomes an image, you cannot select or search the text any more. If you need a redacted PDF that is also safe, this is the price — the words you hid simply do not exist in the file.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDF is rendered and rebuilt entirely in your browser — it never leaves your device, so it works offline and stays private. The PDF viewer loads once on first use and is then cached.
