Weighted Grade Calculator
Combine weighted categories like homework, quizzes and exams into one overall grade — free and right in your browser.
Report a problemTip: weights can be points or percentages — what matters is their proportion. If they do not add up to 100, the average is still worked out from the proportions you entered.
How to use
- List each grading category — homework, quizzes, exams and so on — with the grade you scored as a percentage.
- Type each category’s weight (its share of the final grade). Use “Add category” for more rows and the small × to remove one.
- Read the big number: it is your overall weighted grade, with its letter grade just below. It updates live as you type — there is nothing to submit.
FAQ
How is a weighted grade calculated?
Each category’s grade is multiplied by its weight, those products are added together, and the total is divided by the sum of the weights. For example, a 90% worth 40% plus an 80% worth 60% gives (90×40 + 80×60) ÷ 100 = 84%. The weights do not have to add up to 100 — the calculator divides by whatever they total, so the proportions are what count.
What if my weights don’t add up to 100?
That is fine. The tool divides by the actual total of your weights, so the answer is still correct as long as the relative sizes are right. When the weights don’t total 100 it shows a small note saying so, in case a category is missing.
Is anything I type uploaded?
No — it runs in your browser. Your category names, grades and weights are used for plain arithmetic on your own device. Nothing is uploaded or stored, the calculator works offline, and your numbers stay private.
