%

This assumes your current grade covers everything except the final, and that the final is worth the weight you entered. Check your syllabus for how your course actually counts the final.

How to use

  1. Type your current grade as a percentage — the average you have so far, before the final exam.
  2. Type the overall grade you want to finish with, and how much the final exam is worth as a percentage of your course.
  3. Read the result: it is the score you need on the final to reach your target. It updates live as you type — there is nothing to submit.

FAQ

How do you work out what you need on a final exam?

Take your target overall grade, subtract the part already locked in by your current grade (your current grade multiplied by everything that is not the final), then divide by the final exam weight. As a formula: needed = (target − current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight, where weight is the final written as a decimal. This tool does that for you and updates the answer the moment you change any box.

Is anything I type uploaded?

No — it runs in your browser. Your grades are used for plain arithmetic on your own device, nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is stored. The calculator works offline and keeps your numbers private.

What if the result is over 100% or zero?

If you need more than 100%, your target is out of reach with this final weight alone — you would need a higher-weighted final or extra credit. If the result is zero or less, you have already secured your target and even a zero on the final keeps it. Either way the note under the number explains what the result means.
