A simple online countdown timer and stopwatch with a big clear display, quick presets, laps and an optional beep — all private and in your browser.
How to use
- Pick Countdown or Stopwatch with the toggle at the top.
- For a countdown, set the hours, minutes and seconds (or tap a quick preset like 5 or 25 min); for a stopwatch, just press Start.
- Use Start, Pause and Reset to control it — add Lap times in stopwatch mode, and a beep plays when a countdown reaches zero if Sound is on.
FAQ
Will the timer keep accurate time if I switch to another tab?
Yes. The timer measures real elapsed time from the clock, not by counting ticks, so it stays correct even when a background tab is slowed down by the browser. When you come back the display catches up to the true time, and the countdown also shows the remaining time in the tab title.
Why did I not hear the beep when the countdown ended?
Browsers only allow sound after you interact with the page, so the beep is unlocked by your Start click. Make sure the Sound box is ticked before you start, and that your device is not muted. If the tab was never interacted with, no sound can play.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The timer runs entirely in your browser using the page clock and the Web Audio API for the beep. Nothing is uploaded, so it works offline and keeps everything private.
